This wine is a wonderful product of ‘heroic viticulture’, the stages in the production being carried out by hand. The steep-sloped vineyards are planted with organic saplings and the spurred cordon method is used. The soil is medium-textured clay sometimes mixed with marly rocks and low in organic material. The production is about 30 quintals / hectare.
For the red wine the main native vines are the ‘Guarnaccia’
(listed on the national wine register as ‘Magliocco’ ) and the ‘Greco Nero’. For white wine we have the ‘Malvasia’, ‘Greco Bianco’ and other endangered white grape varieties that we are trying to recover and enhance with new plants such as the ‘duraca’ and the ‘vuino’.
